Green Times – The Environmentally Conscious Newspaper with Reverence for Life
What’s the point of dedicating my life to lowering our country’s carbon and water footprint, if the powers that be simply go ahead and build more coal-fired power stations? The World Bank’s loan to Eskom came as a blow to many of us working in the green field. GT went ahead and found out how people made sense of this blow. Energy is therefore the main focus of this edition. An appropriate response to a crisis is the question: “What are you going to do about it?”
Our response is to get more people writing in an online course called WRITE FOR EARTH. According to my experience it’s impossible to research the facts for an eco story without being deeply moved by what you find. Such is the nature of the current truth. Feeling leads to action and so another activist is born. This is how we hope to infiltrate eco awareness into every town in this country – by training up writers everywhere. Anyone can learn to write. Join our course and let’s get our voices heard. What’s going on in your area? Send us your stories – this is a communal effort. We need your contributions.
We have joined the international No Carbon Week initiative and will be writing down our daily experiences. Watch our website for daily updates on what we learn. Go to our calendar here to see all the exciting green events on over the next 2 weeks. Courses, movies, workshops and gatherings. More than we can personally cover. Attend, write and get involved. Only hands-on can we make a difference. And join us at the Strand beach for an energetic beach clean-up event. Make sure your child’s school participates in the OUR SCHOOL CARES competition – this way we craft the future leaders this planet needs.
Join our initiative, advertise with us, spread the word and enjoy living a more intentional life.
