Western Leopard Toad of Stanford by Naas Terblanche.
On Monday 27 August, toads started migrating in Sunvalley Fish Hoek and Lakes, with more than 80 toads recorded in 3 hours!
The following day, toads in Noordhoek joined the party and the ToadNUTS (Noordhoek Unpaid Toad Savers) had calls coming in from Devilliers farm, Living Art farm and in Noordhoek proper as well as Fish Hoek sports fields.
Volunteers were trying really hard but struggled to manage the roadkill on Noordhoek main road, Lakes entrances and outside the vet and Silvermine road (outside Cape Point Vineyards).
Divers are asked to drive 40km when in a toad area!
Toads are still getting killed and injured. Suzy, the main Toad Mother behind the ToadNUTS group is looking after an amplexus pair who were runover and are now in a bucket with her eggs coming out of her belly! – Hopefully the vet will be able to help them.
She wishes that the people who did this could see this pair suffer the way they do. Please don’t be one of those people!
Drive 40km for the next three weeks in a toad area and please help a toad across the road if you see one..
