The Princess Vlei Forum, a non-partisan group of citizens concerned about a proposed commercial development on the shores of Princess Vlei, Grassy Park, is Standing for the Princess for five days – Mon 17th to Fri 21st September – the week leading up to the Heritage Day Activities planned for Mon 24th September at the Vlei.
For five days, they will gather at three strategic positions along the M5 (Prince George Drive) every morning between 6.30 and 8.30 am, and again each evening between 4.30 and 6.30 pm on the stretch of M5 that runs in front of Princess Vlei, between 5th Avenue and Victoria Road.
Volunteers will stand at:
- Princess Vlei car park
- Intersection M5/5th Avenue/Retreat Road
- Intersection M5/Victoria Road
To participate in this landmark event, contact 074 101 1927 or 021 712 2806 or firstname.lastname@example.org to state your preferred slot. If volunteers are unable to commit to a specific slot, but on the day find they have the time, they may still join in.
The early birds (those arriving 6.30 am and 4.30 pm) will receive posters and directions at the Princess Vlei carpark on the M5 every day. Those who come later must select where they wish to stand and go directly there. Parking is secure at the Vlei carpark and near the garage at M5/5th Ave intersection.
