Hosted by The Enviropaedia, the 2022 Eco-Logic Awards is now open for entries. The awards ceremony will take place on World Ocean Day (8 June 2022) and will be televised by People’s Weather (DStv Channel-180 and Openview Channel-115).
“Each year we showcase and promote the best of South Africa’s eco champions. We also actively encourage all business and private consumers to support and reward these companies and individuals for their eco-logical efforts by supporting them and purchasing their products and services,” says David Parry-Davies, founder and editor of The Enviropaedia and Eco-Logic Awards.
The invitation to enter the awards is open to all South African businesses, non-governmental and community-based organisations, individuals and communities who are demonstrating successful and effective interventions to care for our environment and society.
The 2022 awards will recognise excellence in the following categories:
- Nature Conservation Award
- Climate Change Award
- Eco-Innovation Award
- Recycling and Circular Economy Award
- Water Conservation Award
- Eco-Fashion and Lifestyle Award
- Eco-Health and Wellness Award
- Eco-Community Award
- Eco-Angel Award
- Eco-Warrior Award
- Eco-Leadership Award
Since the competition launched in 2011, the Eco-Logic Awards has flourished and grown in scale, status and influence to become South Africa’s most prestigious environmental calendar event, with broad support from the South African public; environmental community; corporate and thought leaders and a wide range of TV, radio, print and digital Media.
“The Eco-Logic value system is a radically new approach to addressing today’s environmental challenges. It identifies the destructive thinking patterns and values that have led to today’s environmental critical conditions, and promotes an alternative set of constructive values and thinking patterns (the seven virtues of Eco-Logic) that are supportive and beneficial for people, planet and a green economy,” says Parry-Davies.
We are delighted and proud of the statement made by the late Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu who said ‘Eco-Logic represents a mind-set and value system that I fully support’.”
A panel of highly experienced and knowledgeable judges from senior positions in the private and public sectors will use these ‘Virtues of Eco-Logic’ to assess each entry based on the following:
- Benefits and regenerates the Earth.
- Reflects long-term, sustainable thinking.
- Embraces a broadly inclusive and systemic thinking.
- Demonstrates an Ubuntu care and consideration for others.
- Is of excellent quality and ethical standard of production.
- Demonstrates innovation and/or an inspirational vision.
- Reflects ‘Eco-Logical wisdom’ by being both intellectually and emotionally intelligent.
The best entries from each category will be invited to attend the ‘glamorously green’ Eco-Logic Gala Awards evening on 8 June 2022. There is no entry fee and entries will close on 31 March 2022. The same project can be submitted in multiple categories.
