What SA’s new carbon tax means for your business

September 10, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

With the South African Carbon Tax scheduled to be introduced in 2016, what does this mean to your business?

The Energy Training Foundation (EnTF) has teamed up with Adam Simcock who operates Africa’s only DOE (Designated Operational Entity) accredited by the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) to present a one day course for business to understand what it will mean to their bottom line.

The course will answer the many questions posed:

  • What will the carbon tax mean to your bottom line?
  • How many carbon credits can I buy to offset my company’s maximum allowance?
  • Where can I buy them from and at what cost?
  • Does my CDM/VCS/GS project allow my company to claim CERs/VERs for offset? And if not, why not?
  • What is the ‘Z’ factor and how can it be calculated?
  • How is the ‘Z’ factor audited?
  • How are my company’s ‘Scope 1’ emission calculated
  • If my company is not subjected to issuing a ‘Mandatory Carbon Report’ as part of my company’s annual report, do we have to submit a report at all?
  • Who determines ‘double accounting’ and how?
  • Does your company qualify for a ‘free’ energy audit
  • Can your company claim 12L income tax rebate and how?
  • How can Corporate Social Investment and Enterprise Development reduce your company’s carbon tax liability?
  • Clarify misconceptions and misunderstandings.

Carbon Tax 101 is launching in Port Elizabeth on the 27 July 2015 with the next course scheduled for Johannesburg on 10 September 2015.
