Everyone is a sower of seeds. Every thought you think and word you say sows seeds which ultimately lead to actions. Which future are you selecting – which seeds do you want to sow?
We are all aware that the future of humanity is threatened on Earth, just like the millions of species who die out each year due to mankind’s bad rule on this planet.
With our focus on material gain, the ancient values of reverence for all forms of life, and deep respect for our delicate place in the web of life, have somehow been buried under all the stuff we need to acquire to look rich and strong and feel good enough about ourselves. In the process we have managed to close our hearts to the other species under our care – and became disconnected from the cosmos. Now we are paying the price.
Stop playing small
Feeling fearful and despondent about this is not going to help the planet, nor yourself. Fear is what shuts the heart in the first place. Thinking you are too small or powerless to help remedy this planet is a generic thinking error which prevents so many from transforming their lives and taking up the call for leadership, wherever they are.
Fortunately there is also a great revival of ancient wisdom which teaches that if we harm others, we harm ourselves – that we are all One in spirit. There are still many people who consider environmentalism to be an external issue and can’t seem to muster the energy or the time to change the way they live – and the guts to be different. But the courage to act is a natural expression of an internal change.
This awareness is indeed our natural inclination which draws us to the natural places and re-establishes our inner peace through sea and river swims, mountain hikes, natural gardening and the care we receive from our animal companions. The issue which needs facing during this time of imminent extreme weather conditions, floods, droughts and tornadoes, or even more cataclysmic events, is that of personal accountability. It is a call to personal leadership.
Feel it in your bones
What are your skills? Where do you work? Whatever faith you believe in, the essential sacredness of Creation is a truth which needs to be shifted to the top of agendas. In whatever career you’re standing, you can tweak the show to ensure every aspect of all systems is established in a mindful way. To spread this awareness to every level of our society is going to take everyone who can feel this need in their bones. If you understand a bit of science or a bit of religion, you are on call now. If you can hear nature’s call, it is an honour to respond in ways which heal you beyond all expectations. Heartfelt and humble living and working is no longer reserved only for monks or mystics.
This was the way mankind survived over the aeons and we carry this from our ancestors in our cells. It was taught by all ancient traditions. Linking the ancients with the modern and so creating a whole earth again, is our exciting assignment. We need to learn from the elders in humility and grace and listen to their stories.
Words create – and we can all speak and write. Let’s express ourselves and ALL work for earth, for humanity, for our children and their children. Whatever you do in a positive direction is worth sharing. These are the stories of our time that will teach humanity the new way. What does your heart yearn for, if you truly listen inside?
