Radiation exposure has long been a concern for the public, policy makers and health researchers. Beginning with radar during World War II, human exposure to radio-frequency radiation (RFR) and associated technologies has grown more than 100,000-fold. In 2011, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) reviewed the published literature and categorized RFR as a … [Read more...]

It will force government … [Read more...]

International appeal to stop 5g gains momentum

September 2, 2019 Leave a Comment

The assault on life by radio waves that began in 1896 — that is now increasing so rapidly, and is injuring so many people and so many forms of life — must finally be acknowledged and halted. We do not have much time. Scientists, doctors, government officials, and injured people must all meet together in one place to put a stop to it. Hiding incidents at Koeberg is a problem for public safety

April 11, 2019 1 Comment

According to the Southern African Faith Communities’ Environment Institute (SAFCEI), the recent revelations by Minister Pravin Gordhan that three separate safety ‘incidents’ had occurred at Koeberg Power Station in 2014 and 2015, should raise a red flag for South African citizens. Not only is the executive decision to keep the public in the dark about these incidents … [Read more...]

wave-of-radiation-headed-for-us

Over the last year the threat of radiation hitting the United States from the Fukushima nuclear disaster has gone from a conspiracy theory, to a possibility, to a flat out fact. Now, scientists with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute have confirmed that a wave of highly radioactive waste is headed directly for the US west coast. In a segment on the Big Picture with … [Read more...]

fukushimas-effects-will-linger

The world is still reeling from the shock of the terrible triple disasters of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake 13 kilometers off the Oshika coastline near Sendai, the resultant tsunami and then the nuclear near-melt-down that hit Japan in the past week. What exactly happened at the Fukishima nuclear reactor, we were wondering. The Green Times attended a talk at the University of … [Read more...]

Nuclear confusion a smokescreen?

October 31, 2011 Leave a Comment

We were shocked by the article circulated on the internet where a serious environmental author, George Monbiot (pictured), author of 'Heat - how to stop the planet from burning' turned pro-nuclear since the disaster in Japan. Many people were confused about this sudden turn and concerned that Monbiot had used his good name to potentially damage the anti-nuclear … [Read more...]

Trevor Hardaker - wildlife enthusiast and photographer

So, I've been playing around a little with the Canon R6 and 600mm F11 RF lens mirrorless combination recently. And, because I am so involved with rarities, it made sense that I should probably test it out on them... after all, that's what many birders are going to expect from me...😉

And what better subject to start with than the mega Crested Honey Buzzard (Pernis ptilorhynchus) that has been hanging around at Spanish Farm in Somerset West...! Originally found about 2,5 weeks ago, it took a little while, in discussion with a number of experts across the world, to finally pin down the ID, but this is the first record of this species in Southern Africa and one of not all that many for sub-Saharan Africa! So a very worthy subject indeed to test the camera on!

I still need to get used to this combination and put it through some proper birder tests, but am fairly happy with the results I was able to achieve here even without knowing the camera all that well...😀
