The Green Times

Climate change is the most widespread & complex problem humanity has ever faced! There is no time to waste and we need to turn green talk into profound green action. This is the intention of the GREEN TIMES.

Let’s help relocate rhinos to less violent pastures

February 18, 2015 Leave a Comment

TravelersBuildingChangeRhinoRelocationThere is a massive international effort afoot to raise money to relocate 100 rhinos away from the devastating poaching syndicates of South Africa to Botswana, where poaching rates are low. It’s crucial we act now, because over 1,000 rhinos are being killed for their horns annually.

At this rate they’ll all be gone in 20 years. And I simply can’t stand the thought that my grandkids might never know what it’s like to see rhinos in the wild. TravelersBuildingChange.org is our attempt to help save this iconic species.

Green Global Travel partnered with 125 other travel bloggers to create #JustOneRhino– a historic collective effort to make a difference. We’re trying to raise $40,000 to fund the Rhinos Without Borders conservation initiative, and we’re giving away over $30,000 worth of travel prizes (including a South African safari and a trip to the Galapagos Islands) to encourage donors to give.

Time is running out: this campaign ends at midnight on February 28. And, at this point, we’ve got a LONG way to goal to reach our goal.

We need your help, and here’s how:

  1. Make a donation of $20 or more at TravelersBuildingChange.org. Every penny of your donation helps fund rhino conservation, fights terrorism (most poaching profits fund groups like Boko Haram), and earns you a chance at winning one of over 20 great prizes. The more you give, the more chances you have to win.
  2. Share the TravelersBuildingChange.org link via email, social media, word of mouth, smoke signal, or morse code. Urge your friends and family to help out.
  3. Encourage your company to donate to TravelersBuildingChange.org, and then give away prizes as performance bonuses. We donated $250 in our employees’ names, allowing them to pick the prizes they’d win.

Travel bloggers have a reputation for being self-involved. We want to show how much we truly care about this world we love to travel. We would deeply appreciate any help, and any donations, you can give.
